Maarn Dahlia (known as Sylvia in Europe)
Maarn came to me via my dear fellow flower farmer, Lauren, and I am forever thankful for it. It took a couple of years to get this one down as she can seem to be a little shy in starting out but now that I’ve got her pegged, she has rewarded me with the most beautiful golden yellow blooms for my Fall bouquets.
I have found Maarn to be similar to Jowey Nicky but larger in bloom size -about 4” ball form-and, though later to start producing, she goes hard til frost. She can grow up to 5’ but I’ve found that with regular harvesting, she stayed more in the 4’ range for me. She’s a pretty good tuber producer and they store well.
