A Giving Garden Summer

 Meet the blooms of Summer…

In our little neck of New England, Summer is marked by several things: enjoying a Del’s lemonade, spending lazy days lying on the warm sands of one of our glorious beaches (we have 400 miles of coastline), and soaking in the smiles, sights and sounds of the many outdoor farmers markets that run from May through October. If you plan it right, you can do all three on the same day! Now though I do find a cold Del’s on a hot day most refreshing, and that the best time of day to be at the beach is late afternoon to moonrise, it’s our farmers markets that keep my attention during the Summer.

Every Friday, at the Goddard Park market from 9am-1pm, you’ll see our green tent chock full of buckets of freshly harvested seasonal specialty cut flowers, vibrant garden blooms and gorgeous foliages waiting to be combined into bouquets.

If Fridays don’t work into your schedule, we have an annual plant sale in May and recently started having ‘open garden days’ during part of the growing season. If you find yourself in need of flowers during the week, just give a call to set up a time when you can swing by for a pick up.

To see a sampling of what is available, check out the gallery page and please follow our posts to Facebook and Instagram which will keep you up to date on what‘s in bloom each week. As the seasons change, so does the availability of flower varieties. We’ll be planting it tight and harvesting heavy so hope you stay tuned - it may just be our most bloom filled Summer yet!

Ahh, the quintessential New England hydrangea is foundational for Summer bouquet making - and just like the unexpected dinner guest finding a plate at the table, there is always room for one more hydrangea in the garden.
